Dealing with Trolls: a Handful Guide

There is no wonder that vertical video is one of the most popular types of content on social media platforms. Creating videos for your clients increases the chance of a huge audience. But it does not remain positive all the time to the customer because more exposure means more trolls. Everybody gets trolled on social media either way. But when any company or organization gets trolled because of any service or product, it impacts their business negatively.

Moreover, there are no other options available than social media which can increase your audience and sales. That's why we have discussed in this article a few handfuls of tips about social media management and how you can deal with social media trolls.

Signs of Trolling

People who post bad comments without any valid proof, basically want your time, not your logic. The sole purpose of them is to make you angry. They also exaggerate while posting irrelevant comments. No matter how you try to let them understand your opinion, they take it personally.

Funny thing is that they cannot spell correctly and believe us it is universal. No matter what language they are writing in, they always suck at spelling and grammar including type in all caps, spelling words wrong, using “!!!” marks a lot and avoiding commas and periods.

A Few Tips for Handling Trolls on Social Media

  • Block the Trolls and Report Harassment

If you want to avoid negative comments from one particular account, report them. You have to follow these steps - go to the profile page of your account, then tap the 3 dots in the top right corner. After that, click on the option ‘report’. If you do it on Instagram, then a lot of questions are asked there. If you want to block them. Follow these steps and then select “Block”.

  • Ignore Them

Keep in mind that the trolls do not want your logic, they only want your time and attention. Therefore, it would be better, if you simply ignore them. You can delete their comments and scroll to the next one -it’s that simple.

  • Restrict Comments

Instagram does a good job of hiding offensive comments. You can also do the same on Instagram. You have to go to the client’s settings and include a few common words which are considered bullying. You have to go into Settings - Privacy - Hidden Words - Manage List.

Be a Part of Friendly Community

At the end of the day, trolls are trolls nothing more than that and they are a part of social media. Making them friends would be a great social media strategy. Remember that everybody notices how you handle them. So before replying to them, think about your post very carefully.
